Gudauri, Georgia – A collision between 18-year-old and 12-year-old skiers in the Georgian resort of Gudauri on Sunday left the younger skier dead.

Witnesses report that the unnamed 18-year-old male was skiing out of control when he struck the younger girl, who was in a ski school class.

“He crashed into the girl like a freak. I don’t know whether he was drunk or not. People tried to give the girl CPR for 20 minutes, but couldn’t save her,” said Irakli Kapanadze, who witnessed the collision and posted about it on Facebook. “The father of the girl was there, too. It was terrible.”

The Georgian Interior Ministry has launched a criminal investigation into the incident.
