Running Springs, CA – Apparently, icy patches and collisions with other skiers aren’t the only risks associated with skiing in southern California.
Jennifer Magana, 31, was arrested on Saturday after firing four gunshots in the parking lot of Snow Valley ski area in Running Springs. The woman, whose hometown was not immediately known, was cited by officers with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department with unlawful discharge of a firearm.
Deputies were dispatched to the ski resort at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday after multiple 911 reports of shots fired. Along with officers from the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino National Forest, deputies treated the incident as an active shooter situation.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that Magana fired four shots into the air in an attempt to disperse a fight between her husband, Anthony Magana, 37, and four unnamed people in the Snow Valley parking lot, after the dispute turned physical. Their investigation determined that Anthony Magana was the aggressor in the altercation, and he was booked on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury. He was released after posting $100,000 bond.
The incident remains under investigation.
