Baden-Württemberg, Germany – Two beginner skiers collided with one another on a nearly empty run at the Feldberg resort in the Black Forest of Germany on Sunday, leaving both dead.

The resort was closing at the time of the incident, and the lift had already stopped for the day when the 29-year-old from France and a 30-year-old German collided on a novice slope. Both were wearing a helmet.

Ski patrol was in the process of sweeping the mountain when the crash occurred, and were therefore on the scene almost immediately. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
