Richard S. Bredeck, 65, of the nearby community of Minerva lost control while skiing Gore Mountain’s double-black Lies trail. Said to be an experienced skier and regular Gore visitor, Bredeck was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple trauma. Bredeck’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he retired from a sales career in 2008.

The weather was clear at the time, and Gore Mountain officials described the trail conditions as “packed powder.”

Bredeck’s death is the second at the state-run ski area in as many years.
