Beech Mountain, NC – Beech Mountain Resort will offer skiing deep into March thanks to a late-arriving winter that provided ample amounts of snow and snowmaking temperatures in February, officials at the North Carolina ski area said on Monday.
“We enter March with peak-season conditions and 100% of our terrain open,” said resort general manager Ryan Costin. “March is generally a good time for skiing because of sunny, clear days followed by cool nights that allow us to maintain snow packs and provide snowmaking.”
The resort has all chairlifts accessible and available to service the slopes as needed. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, visitors can enjoy ice skating in the resort village or partake in the resort’s new activity, snowtubing.
A state-of-the-art snowtubing park, located adjacent to the ice rink, opened in December and has been a big hit this winter, offering both day and night sessions. Meanwhile, the schedule of live music in the Beech Tree ski lodge has been extended through March.
“With heavy snowfall in February, spring conditions are the best we have seen in many years and we expect to ski through the end of the month,” said marketing director Talia Freeman.
Another bonus to March skiing is reduced rates. Beginning March 7 and continuing through the end of the season, Beech Mountain Resort will offer 25 percent off lift tickets and equipment rentals on a daily basis, with local accommodations offering 25 percent off lodging.
For those interested in learning to ski, Beech Mountain Resort has two packages available Mondays through Thursdays. Children ages 8-12 receive a day lift ticket, ski rental and first-time beginner lesson for just $33, Monday through Thursday. Adults receive the same package for just $46.
“We have already seen increase in advance bookings for March,” Freeman said. “ Our customers seem pleased with the current conditions and excited for another month of skiing.”
