Squaw Valley, CA – A 62-year-old local died in an accident while skiing Squaw Valley in California on Saturday.

The Placer County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Elizabeth S. Danel, of Olympic Valley. According to a statement issued by the resort, Danel was skiing in Squaw Valley’s Headwall area when she fell and slid through a group of trees, sustaining multiple injuries.

“The guest was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, and was unconscious and unresponsive when ski patrol arrived on scene, at which time CPR was immediately administered,” the resort statement indicates.

“On behalf of everyone at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to this individual’s family and friends,” the statement continues. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.”
