Winter Starts This Friday in SoCal

Big Bear Lake, CA – Bear Mountain’s annual Hot Dawgz and Handrails snowboarding competition is set to go off this Friday and Saturday. The unofficial kickoff to California’s winter season, the event features some the world’s best snowboarders and new this year, a full musical lineup spread over two days with live musical performances by Wale, Atlas Genius, Dilated Peoples, She Wants Revenge, Eagles of Death Metal and DJ JayceeOH.

The vendor village will also be expanded this year for attendees, and TransWorld Snowboarding and Snowboarder Magazine will premiere their new films before each night’s line-up of musical performances.

Fifty of the top snowboarders in the world have been invited to compete for their share of a $16,000 prize purse on the Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails 2016 course. Air, rails, obstacles and more, all up close in The Scene make this a spectator’s contest. The first heat gets underway at 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the finals beginning at 3 p.m.

Two-day general admission tickets are currently available on EventBrite for $40, (one-day tickets are $30). For those looking to make a weekend out of it, rooms are currently available starting at $59 through BigBear.com.
