Nakiska Makes Snow, First in Canada

Kananaskis (AB), Canada – The folks at Nakiska like to get things done early.

Nakiska officials strive each season to be the earliest ski resort in Canada to open and this year, they’re the country’s first ski resort to rev up winter by making snow. If it’s like previous seasons, they’ll have to contend with competition for that title from nearby Mt. Norquay, and also from Mont-Saint-Sauveur in Quebec.

Nakiska began making snow on Thursday. With a little help from Mother Nature providing cooler temperatures in Alberta along with some natural snow, Nakiska’s sights are set on opening weekends beginning November 5, conditions permitting.
