Sandy, UT – Avalanche training is like first aid training – you only get good at it by practicing and continuing your education.
Join the Utah Avalanche Center and other avalanche pros from around North America for the 9th annual Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop (USAW) on Saturday, Nov 5 at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy. USAW provides a great opportunity to listen to experts present on and discuss common decision-making errors in complex situations, backcountry-specific emergency response considerations, the latest snow science, and lessons learned from recent accidents.
If you take your safety in the backcoutry seriously, you should consider attending along with your riding and skiing partners as this will be your best chance to get continuing high-level avalanche education this year. You can sign up for the full day program (including lunch) or the afternoon program. Sponsors will be showing off the latest avalanche and backcountry gear. There will be a raffle for donated gear to benefit the Utah Avalanche Center. Long-range weather models indicate that will be a great day to be inside building your skills.
