Banff (AB), Canada – Thanks to its high elevation and ample October snowfall, Sunshine Village will kick off its ski and ride season tomorrow, its earliest season debut in over 30 years and eight days ahead of schedule.
The first Canadian ski resort to open this season, Sunshine Village will get things underway with a quarter of its marked terrain open and the Wawa, Strawberry, Jackrabbit and Wolverine chairlifts running, along with a conveyor lift and the resort’s gondola. Base depths are reported at 70cm (27.5 inches). Opening day surfaces will be spruced up by 2.5 inches of new snow that fell overnight.
