Woman Dies Sledding on Closed Boyne Mountain Ski Slope

Boyne Falls, MI – A 20-year-old woman died in the early hours of Sunday morning after crashing into a building while sledding at Boyne Mountain ski resort in Michigan.

A spokesperson with the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office indicates that Sally Ottenhoff of Grosse Pointe Park, near Detroit, was using a round plastic saucer to sled down one of Boyne Mountain’s ski runs at high speed after hours at around 2:45 a.m., a practice that is not permitted by the resort. She either fell off or jumped from her sled, but continued another 30 yards and collided with a resort building.
