Canadian Resort Stays Open for 24 Hours of Skiing

North Vancouver (BC), Canada – This weekend, Grouse Mountain is once again opening its doors to 24 consecutive hours of winter fun outside of Vancouver.

Pull an all-nighter on the slopes from sundown to sunrise Feb. 11-12 during Grouse’s annual 24 Hours of Winter celebration. Dance the night away under starry skies as DJs spin tracks late into the night. Glide down The Cut while taking in a spectacular Vancouver sunrise or enjoy one of the many family-friendly activities available.

Skiing/ Snowboarding (8:30 a.m. Saturday-10 p.m. Sunday)

Terrain Park (8:30 a.m. Saturday-10 p.m. Sunday)

Snowshoeing (9 a.m.-dusk, Saturday and Sunday, plus special night tours)
  • Complimentary 1-hour guided tour at sunrise. Conditions permitting. Reserve your spot online.
  • Snowshoe trails are closed from dusk to dawn unless accompanied by a snowshoe guide.
Outpost Rental Shop (9 a.m. Saturday-10 p.m. Sunday): From snowshoes to the latest ski/snowboard gear,  Outpost Rental Shop has what you need for your day (and night) on the mountain.
 
Mountaintop Ice Skating (noon Saturday-10 p.m. Sunday) Subject to closures for the Pond Hockey Classic.
  • Skate to a live DJ from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday
Other Activities: 
Light Walk (Dusk-10 p.m., Saturday & Sunday): Walk among the fir and spruce around Blue Grouse Lake where special light installations bring radiance to the winter night.
Sliding Zone (noon-8 p.m. Saturday & Sunday): Get your snow sled rental..and slide!

Jam Over the City (Saturday – 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.): Whether you’re a skier or snowboarder, guy or girl, young or old, head on out to the Terrain Park to win loads of prizing and have a good time! Find out more here.

Winter Walk and Meditative Yoga Session with YYoga 
(Saturday – 6 p.m.): Begin the evening under the stars with a guided winter walk through the twinkling Light Walk. Come prepared with snow-appropriate footwear or strap on your snowshoes for the journey. Then, enjoy a 1.5 hour yoga and meditation session by candlelight with YYoga instructor Alex Atherton. Torch Parade (Saturday – 9 p.m.): Grouse Mountain will be aglow with enthusiastic skiers carving their way down the mountain. Best views from the Peak Flats and Lower Peak.
Winter Mingler (Saturday – 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.): Join in at Altitudes for cool tunes, hot food and cold beverages.
Sunset and Midnight Chocolate Fondue Snowshoe Tours (Saturday – 5 p.m. & Sunday – 12 a.m.): Enjoy an hour-long guided group snowshoe tour followed by chocolate fondue served in an intimate setting. Rates apply. Find out more here.
Sunrise Snowshoe Tour (Sunday – 7 a.m.): Join in a 1-hour, guided snowshoe tour. Pre-registration is required. Reserve your spot online.

Pond Hockey Classic (Saturday/Sunday): Cheer on these young local hockey dynamos age 6-7 as they zip around the ice.

Grouse Grind Coffee Bar (8 a.m. Saturday-10 p.m. Sunday): An alcohol-free zone the entire weekend. Short closure 7 a.m.-8 a.m. Sunday.
Lupins Cafe (11 a.m. Saturday-close on Sunday):
  • Alcohol-free zone from 10 p.m. on Saturday to 11 a.m. on Sunday.
  • Breakfast items served 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
  • Short closure between 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.

Complimentary Shuttle
A complimentary shuttle will be running from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Sunday between Grouse Mountain and key North Vancouver locations.
Departures from Grouse Mountain at the top of each hour from midnight to 7 a.m. (last departure). Catch the shuttle by the Red Skyride west ramp.

Canyon Heights (via Montroyal/Highlands)
Edgemont (via Edgemont/Queens)
Down Lonsdale to Lonsdale Quay
Esplanade to 3rd Street/Marine Drive
Up Capilano Road back to Grouse Mountain

Hop-off anywhere along the route (let the driver know in advance).

Edgemont Village (in front of Delaney’s)
Lonsdale Quay (Chadwick Court at the end of Chesterfield Place)
Capilano Road, north of Marine Drive (in front of Comfort Inn)
Capilano Road opposite the Capilano Suspension Bridge
If there is no one waiting at the above stops when the driver comes by, the driver will not stop and will continue along the route. Schedule and route are subject to change.
