Utah Earthquake Leaves Ski Resorts Unscathed

Beaver, UT – A magnitude 4.6 earthquake Monday morning centered near Circleville, Utah has left central Utah’s two ski resorts undamaged.nThe tremblor, which occurred just after 5 a.m. Monday morning, was centered just 20 miles from Utah’s newest ski and snowboard resort, Eagle Point. Resort staffers continue their inspections of the ski area’s facilities, but no damage has been reported.

The earthquake comes on the heels of the resort receiving approximately eight feet of snow over the last couple of weeks that caused temporary power interruptions and road closures.

“After opening on Dec. 15, Eagle Point personnel has demonstrated their ability to handle just about anything,” said Jodi Holmgren, Eagle Point spokesperson. “The roads are clear, and the resort is open for business with fantastic conditions.”

Five aftershocks have been recorded thus far today. Further from the quake’s epicenter, no reports of damage have been received from Brian Head Resort near Parowan, Utah.
