Oberhofen, Switzerland – The International Ski Federation (FIS) is hoping that the third time’s the charm, resetting a twice-rescheduled women’s World Cup super G ski race for Jan. 21 at Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.nThe race, originally scheduled for St. Moritz, Switzerland on Dec. 11, was canceled due to high winds. Six days later the race was again canceled in Val d’Isere, France, due to heavy snowfall.
Only one super G has been held thus far this season on the World Cup circuit, in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada in December. That race was won by Lindsey Vonn of the United States.
The rescheduled super G will open a three-day weekend of World Cup action in Cortina, to be followed by a downhill on Saturday, Jan. 22 and another super G on Sunday, Jan. 23.
