Snowbird Hosting Overnight Skiing Fundraiser Feb. 18-19

Snowbird, UT – Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort is hosting the first-ever 12 Hours of Snowbird, an overnight full moon skiing event from Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. until Feb. 19 at 7 a.m., with proceeds to benefit the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center (FUAC).nParticipation will be limited to 20 individual skiers/snowboarders and 40 teams of two. Each participant will be required to raise or contribute a minimum of $250 (tax deductible) for the FUAC in addition to a $25 registration fee, with special Black Diamond skis awarded to the individual and team raising the most money.

Online registration and more details can be found at www.12hoursofsnowbird.com. Organizers report that spots are filling quickly and it’s anticipated this event will reach capacity by early February.

All participants will be required to wear headlamps, helmets and transceivers as well as flaik GPS tracking devices which will record total vertical feet skied, skier location, current speed, average speed, runs skied and more. Awards will be presented to the individual and team with the most vertical feet skied. The 12 Hours of Snowbird course will be announced in the days leading up to the event.

Spectators and support staff are encouraged to attend the 12 Hours of Snowbird party at the Forklift on Feb. 18 from 4-7 p.m. DJ Knuckles will be providing music alongside food from Utah Food Services and beverages sponsored by Uinta and Pepsi. Tickets for entry will be available at the door for $25.
