Lebanon, NH – Marker Volkl USA and Kastle GmbH, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have recalled about 5,400 sets of Marker and Kastle Twin Cam 12.0 ski bindings.nAuthorities report that steel springs in the heel pieces of the bindings could break, posing a fall hazard to consumers. The recall affects white and red Marker 12.0 TC Comp EPS bindings, black Marker 12.0 Free bindings with 90mm or 110mm ski brakes, white and red Marker rMotion 12.0 D bindings, Kastle K12 KTI bindings, and Kastle K12 CTI bindings with 90mm or 110mm ski brakes.
Ski and specialty sports retailers nationwide sold the Kastle bindings from January 2010 through December 2010, and the Marker bindings from July 2010 through December 2010. The bindings sold for between $280 and $340.
Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled ski bindings and return Marker bindings to a Marker authorized retailer or return Kastle bindings to a Kastle authorized retailer for free replacement heelpieces.
