N.Y. Ski Resort Sees First Death in 15 Years

Windham, NY – A Long Island woman who died over the weekend at Windham Mountain is the New York ski resort’s first fatality in 15 years.nErin Clare Malloy-McArdle, 18, of North Bellemore, N.Y., sustained severe head injuries Sunday morning when she skied off the resort’s intermediate Upper Warpath trail at a high rate of speed and struck a tree. She was not wearing a helmet.

Malloy-McArdle was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson where she was pronounced dead. New York State Police who investigated the accident described Malloy-McArdle as a novice skier.
