Banff (AB), Canada – Not all is sunny at Sunshine Village in Banff, where ski resort officials have fired two more of its patrollers following an alleged walkout on Wednesday to protest the firings of five others.nCraig McArthur and Jock Richardson were both dismissed on Thursday following meetings with Sunshine Village owner Ralph Scurfield to discuss Wednesday’s job action in which a number of patrollers called in sick. Wednesday’s incident was indicated to be in protest of the firings of four staffers in December and one earlier this week that reportedly arose out of a confrontation in December with a group of skiers found in a closed area. That group allegedly included a member of Scurfield’s family.
Wednesday’s walkout caused Sunshine Village to close nine of its 12 ski lifts and offer reduced price lift tickets to customers. All but Sunshine’s Goat’s Eye Express chair reopened on Thursday.
The four staffers fired in December have reportedly retained an attorney in contemplation of a wrongful termination lawsuit against Sunshine Village.
