Louie Vito and Kelly Clark Crowned Dew Cup Champioins in Snowboard Superpipe

Huntsville, UT – It was Kelly Clark’s world, and we were all just observers Saturday night as the two-time Olympic medalist from West Dover, Vt., threw down her newly patented 1080 to take the win and overall title in halfpipe at the Winter Dew Tour at Snowbasin Resort in Utah. Luke Mitrani, of Mammoth Mountain, Calif., won the men’s competition, but Sandy, Utah’s Louie Vito, who won the tour’s previous two stops, took the overall title.n”I’m really happy with my riding today and it’s even better to walk away with the win and the Dew Cup,” said Clark. “It’s been an amazing season and I didn’t think I could recover after Breckenridge when I finished in sixth place, but to come back and win the next two and walk away with the Cup is just incredible.”

Clark put down a front 7, cab 7, a huge frontside 1080, cab 3, front 5 and a back 5 for the win. She was followed in second place by Kaitlyn Farrington, of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Japan’s Soko Yamaoka was third.

In the men’s competition Mitrani put down an incredible run with a double Michael chuck, frontside 9, backside 5, front 10 and a cab double 10 to earn a staggeringly high score of 97.00.

Greg Bretz, of Mammoth Mountain, Calif., finished second while Breckenridge, Colo.’s Steve Fisher threw down with the first double cork of his career for third.

“It was a great contest, the last stop of the Dew Tour, and the crowd was amazing. A really good energy,” said Mitrani. “I can’t believe I won. I’ve never won a contest this big so I’m really tripping.”

While seventh wasn’t exactly what he hoped for, Vito’s consistency in the Tour’s first two stops still earned him the Dew title.

“I’m bummed I didn’t make the podium, and I wasn’t completely satisfied with my riding tonight,” said Vito. “The level of riding was sick though, and in the end I’m stoked I got the Dew Cup.”
