This year’s attempt will take place on Saturday, Mar. 5 at 11 a.m. and all money raised will be split between Maggie’s Highland and the Badenoch & Strathspey Schools Skiing Program.

Plans call for the kilted skiers and riders descend in a single consecutive line from the Ptarmigan Top Station at CairnGorm Mountain all the way down to the parking lot.

“The 2010 record breaking attempt met with a great public response and with conditions looking good this year we want to repeat the event, have some fun and raise some money for good causes,” says Ian Whitaker, Chief Executive at CairnGorm Mountain.

Participants should be competent intermediate or advanced skiers or snowboarders capable of skiing slowly and steadily from the top station down the Traverse, Coire Cas, Zig Zags and the lower slopes without stopping, as world record attempts require the line to be consecutive and a moving single file. Ladies, gentlemen and children (accompanied by an adult) are all welcome as long as they are wearing a kilt.

Registration entitles participants to ski until 12:30 p.m. on Mar. 5. Participants must register online via this link or on-site by 10 a.m. on the day of the event. Registration costs £5 and all money goes to the charities. Full details will be sent via email upon registration. Sunday, Mar. 6, and Saturday, Mar. 12 hav been earmarked as weather dates.
