Whistler Lifties Leave Woman in Gondola Overnight

Whistler (BC), Canada – Whistler Blackcomb officials have disciplined a lift attendant after a 25-year-old passenger was left in a cabin of the Excalibur Gondola overnight earlier this month.nThe unidentified rider was aboard the lift’s upper section when it stopped between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on March 1. Without a cell phone, she spent the night in the gondola cabin as temperatures dipped to 19ºF. She was found when lift operations resumed at 7:15 a.m. the following morning.

The victim was reportedly unharmed in the ordeal. It is unclear what disciplinary actions were taken against the employee, who ski resort officials indicate did not follow proper lift clearing protocols.
