Teen Dies at West Mountain Ski Area in Upstate New York

Glens Falls, NY – Warren County Sheriff’s deputies are reporting that a 17-year-old boy from Fort Ann, N.Y., died Saturday morning in a skiing accident at West Mountain ski area in Glens Falls.nSean M. LaFlash was skiing with friends on the resort’s Banister run just before noon on Saturday when he veered off the trail and crashed into trees near the bottom of the run. Banister is an intermediate trail in the vicinity of the ski area’s triple chairlift.

LaFlash was scheduled to participate in West Mountain’s pond skimming contest shortly after noon. He was found unconscious and in cardiac arrest at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s office. The victim was transported to Glens Falls Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
