Wilmington, NY – There’s still plenty of spring skiing and riding to be enjoyed at Whiteface Mountain Ski Center in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, and this Sunday it’s the ski area’s annual pond skimming contest and Retro Super Sunday, when lift tickets will be reduced to $35 for adults, $30 for teens and $25 for juniors.nSunday’s pond skimming contest fun begins at noon outside the Base Lodge and prizes will be awarded for distance, best costume, splash and more. The event is free to watch or to enter, and registration will take place at the ski area’s guest services desk from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

During Super Sunday, break out the neon one piece or go back further and break out the goose down or wool and stirrup pants. Whiteface will hold a best retro costume contest during the pond skimming awards ceremony on the Cloudspin Deck. Skiers and riders can also log on to Whiteface’s Facebook and Twitter pages as clues are revealed throughout the day for the on-mountain scavenger hunt and win gear from local ski shops including Cunningham’s Ski Barn, Maui North and Viking Ski Shop.
