McCall, ID – Another barrage of fresh powder has blessed Brundage Mountain with its best snow conditions of the entire season, and the ski area in the Idaho panhandle town of McCall now plans to stay open on weekends at least through the first of May.nBrundage Mountain will be open seven days a week through April 10, and has now planned three “bonus weekends” beyond that date, conditions permitting: April 16-17, April 23-24 and April 30-May 1. Officially, Brundage Mountain staffers will continue to assess conditions in the coming weeks in hopes of adding more bonus weekends beyond the May 1 date.
“Snow conditions and snow depths at Brundage Mountain are the best they’ve been all season,” says resort spokesperson April Russell. “March came in like a lion and has been roaring ever since.
The resort has received thirty inches of fresh snow this week and a total of 88 inches since March 1. The snow base now ranges from 111 to 133 inches. Consistently low temperatures have provided a bounty of fresh powder and preserved the snow pack well, ski area officials indicate.
Brundage Mountain’s annual spring fling takes place this weekend. Brundage hosts Pond Skimming, the resort’s most popular event of the year, on Saturday, and other Crazy Daze favorites on Saturday include the Costume Contest, Treasure Hunt, Poker Run, Kids Pinata Party, afternoon Rail Jam and live music.
Sunday is Brundage’s “Gimme a Break” Day. Kids 17 and under are invited to ski or ride for free in honor of Spring Break.
In the past, these events marked the end of ski season at Brundage Mountain, but not this year.
Resort operators are confident that slope conditions will remain favorable for many weeks to come.
