Wagar Just Misses Junior Worlds PSL Finals

Valmalenco, Italy – Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club’s Cassie Wagar just missed qualifying for the parallel slalom FIS Junior World Snowboard Championship finals last Thursday, matching her 18th from Wednesday. Austria’s Lukas Mathies and Switzerland’s Julie Zogg clinched the Junior Worlds Championships in Valmalenco.nWagar once again looked strong heading into Thursday’s heats, but failed to advance to the finals. Parallel giant slalom Junior World champion Zogg picked up another title, sweeping the Junior World alpine snowboarding events. Cheyenne Loch of Germany also landed her second medal, besting her bronze from Wednesday with silver. Sabine Schoeffmann of Austria landed the final spot on the podium securing the bronze.

In the men’s race, Junior World PGS silver medalist Lukas Mathies of Austria added gold to his medal collection edging out Russia’s Dmitry Bazanov in the finals. Germany’s Stefan Baumeister landed the bronze. Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club’s Aaron Muss, from Munson, N.J., led the U.S. men charge finishing in 29th.
