Salt Lake City, UT – U.S. halfpipe snowboarder Kaitlyn Farrington of Salt Lake City spent this past season showing everyone that she’s a force to be reckoned with. With a win at the season’s opening Grand Prix in Copper Mountain in Colorado as well as a silver medal at the X Games in Aspen there is a lot more to the 21-year old than meets the eye.

How/when did you decide you wanted to compete: I didn’t really decide to compete. I joined the Sun Valley Snowboard Team just for fun with my good friend Heather Black and that led to competing.

Biggest accomplishment in your career so far: I think getting gold at Euro X Games in 2010.  It really jump started my career in snowboarding, I believe.

Goals for next season: To learn a couple new tricks and shred.

Favorite snow destination: Now Bald Face. It is just an awesome place! It’s so remote you either get a heli or sled in and out. I can’t say I have been anywhere like it!

Favorite non-snow destination: East Coast/Ice Coast, that’s all I can say.

If you weren’t a professional athlete what would you be: Hmmm… maybe still working at my high school job in Sun Valley at the toy store.

Time you’ve been most scared in your life: When I was little I was riding my horse bare back and got bucked off. When he came back down he landed right on my leg and I had a bruise of a hoof mark on my leg. Luckily it didn’t break. It took me a while to get on bare back again.

Biggest pet peeve: When I am doing laundry and my roommate goes to do hers and just puts my wet clothes from the wash on top of the dryer! Then I don’t know they are up there and they get all mildew-y. I absolutely can’t stand it!

Advice to others who want to follow in your footsteps: You can’t live the life you do not lead!
