Brewfest, Chili Cook-off, Live Music and More Kick Off Fall Foliage at Stratton Mountain

Stratton Mountain, VT – Southern Vermont’s Stratton Mountain ski resort has scheduled a weekend fêting Vermont, fall, friends and the kick-off to Stratton’s 50th anniversary ski and snowboard season.

As the leaves busy themselves turning vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow, the resort is abuzz with preparations for the new ski and snowboard season, anticipating the arrival of 300 new snow guns, shipments of 2012 gear and affixing the name signs above two new trails.

Over the Columbus Day weekend, October 8-10, ride the summit gondola to the highest peak in southern Vermont and take in live music under the stars during a weekend designed around fun, fitness and family. Events include the chili cook-off and brewfest, North Face Race to the Summit, Tyrolean Evening with the Stratton Mountain Boys and a community BBQ benefiting the Stratton Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Saturday, October 8
12 – 3pm:
Chili Cookoff
12 – 7pm: Beerfest
2 – 7pm: Pig Roast
7 – 10pm: Don’t Leave Band at Grizzly’s

Sunday, October 9
9am:
North Face Race to the Summit, register on Active.com
11 – 7pm: Awards Tent BBQ and celebration
3:30pm: 50th Anniversary Birthday Cake in the Base Lodge
7 – 9pm: Tyrolean Evening at Grizzly’s featuring the Stratton Mountain Boys. 1-800-Stratton to pre-reserve, $30 adults, $20 12 and under.
9pm: Fireworks at the Main Base

Monday, October 10
11 – 1pm:
I Love VT, a community BBQ benefiting the Disaster Relief Fund
