Park City, UT – The managing partner of New York’s Windham Mountain Resort,  J. Randall MacDonald has been named to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The announcement was made yesterday by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s (USSA) President and CEO Bill Marolt.

MacDonald, a senior vice president of IBM, and his family have been long-time skiers at Windham Mountain. He has been strongly connected in the ski industry and in 2006 was part of a group of investors that purchased Windham. In 2010 he became the managing partner.

“Randy’s passion to help our athletes is exactly what we need to be best in the world,” said Marolt. “He will bring a great business background to our Board as well as leadership in our own industry in a very important part of the country for us.”

In August 2009, MacDonald received the Distinguished Human Resources Executive Award from the Academy of Management for his significant contributions to the science and practice of human resources, including HR-related research and education. He is the first executive to receive the award twice; he was also recognized with the honor in 2004.

In 1998, MacDonald was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, the human resource profession’s highest honor for outstanding achievement, and in November 2011 will be named a Distinguished Fellow, one of only 13 in the Academy.

“It is an honor to be a small part of this team” said MacDonald. “I look forward to supporting the American’s efforts to represent our country and realize their dreams they have worked for so diligently.”

A graduate of St. Francis University, he is active on many nonprofit boards focused on education including Cornell University’s Center for Advanced Human Resources Study, the HR Policy Association and is a Trustee of Bucknell University.  He is a member of the Board of Managers of Delphi Corporation and a former member of the Board of Directors of Covance.
