New Shops Open in The Village at Squaw Valley

Squaw Valley, CA – Eight new shops and restaurants will debut this winter at The Village at Squaw Valley, further adding to the vibrant scene at the base of the Lake Tahoe ski resort with outlets ranging from concept stores to tasty new sweet shops.

Among the new retails stores are concept outlets from Salomon, The North Face and Oakley. The new Salomon concept store is the first of its kind in America and second only to a new outlet in Vancouver, Canada, showcasing the latest retail technology and a full range of hard and soft goods from Salomon skis, boots, snowboards and helmets, to the new Salomon goggles and Suunto watches. Salomon will also offer a full range of technical outerwear and apparel. The new store’s graphics and design will pay homage to the beauty of the Lake Tahoe area and local Salomon athletes including Squaw’s own Cody Townsend. The new Salomon concept store is scheduled to open for the 2011 holiday season with a grand opening party hosted by Salomon and Squaw Valley.

The North Face concept store has been relocated and completely redesigned, offering a full range of head-to-toe products, including performance outerwear, apparel, footwear, backpacks, sleeping bags, tents and performance outerwear for infants, toddlers and youth. Doubling in size, The North Face store’s new location in The Village features fully integrated Squaw imagery, including shots of the resort’s own big mountain pro skier, Ingrid Backstrom. The North Face Store even features unique dressing rooms made entirely of tent and climbing materials. The North Face store is schedule to open for Thanksgiving 2011.

The new Oakley concept store will offer high performance men’s and women’s snow, lifestyle, golf and training apparel, footwear and accessories, in addition to an extensive selection of signature eyewear that the company is known for. The store will feature a goggle and sunglass bar, where guests can have the “Oakley Custom experience.” Guests can hand select sunglass and goggle frames and lens combinations to create their own custom one-of-a-kind piece. The Oakley store is schedule to open in January 2012.

The Village at Squaw Valley also welcomes Farrah Rale Jewelry Design, where guests can create their own jewelry from gemstones, pearls, crystals, glass, and various gold and silver metals. In addition to assisting customers with crafting their own pieces, Farrah Rale’s bead team is available to assemble custom pieces while guests ski, snowboard or explore Squaw’s mountain activities. Farrah Rale also offers one-on-one classes and private parties. Ready-to-wear pieces are available for purchase in the store. Farah Rale Jewelry is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and until 10 p.m. on Saturdays.

Squaw is adding several new dining options to The Village at Squaw Valley. Full Belly Deli will be opening up shop in the Tram building at the new Full Belly Deli Express in early December. Full Belly Deli is revising their menu to best service the grab-and-go crowd. Menu items will include breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfaits, wraps, salads and their signature sandwiches.

Guests with a sweet tooth will enjoy the new sweet shops that are coming to The Village this winter. Batch Cupcakery, located on the base floor of Olympic House, will feature gourmet cupcakes baked fresh daily using natural ingredients, including gluten free and organic options. The new cupcake bakery is schedule to open for the 2011 holiday season.

A distinctive dessert and Candyland-like experience awaits the whole family at Euro Sweets, which will be opening in The Village early December, serving up gelato, frozen yogurt, specialty candies, chocolates, and other sweets.

Squaw’s Euro Snack kiosk will return, this winter to be accompanied by a new Euro Crepe kiosk, serving sweet breakfast crepes and veggie and cheese-filled lunch crepes. Opening early December, the two kiosks will be located at each end of The Village.

The Wildflour Baking Company cookie shop will be reopening in an expanded location in the base floor of the Olympic House. In addition to their cookies, Wildflour will be offering an expanded breakfast menu, delicious sandwiches, and a new express line reserved for cookie pass holders and past and present Olympians. The expanded shop is expected to open in December, in time for the 2011 holiday season.
