Predazzo, Italy – Park City, Utah’s young Sarah Hendrickson, etched her name in the history book Saturday, setting a women’s hill record and winning her third women’s World Cup ski jumping competition of the season out of four events.
Hendrickson, 17, had to come from behind with a powerful 107.5 meter second jump to set a new women’s hill record, her second set this season, and overtake leader Daniela Iraschko of Austria.
“I love jumping well and I love having good results so this was a perfect day for me,” said Hendrickson. “It is a lot of fun jumping in front of a loud crowd as we had here in Predazzo. Winning doesn’t get boring for me.”
Hendrickson’s Park City neighbors Lindsey Van and Jessica Jerome finished fourth and sixth, respectively, as the U.S. women extended their lead in the Nations Cup standings. Hendrickson leads the prize money standings with $10,300.
