Fisher Snags Super Combined Points

Chamonix, France – Middleton, Idaho’s Erik Fisher landed the first Audi FIS Alpine World Cup super combined points of his career on Sunday as Austrian Romed Baumann captured the final win at the World Cup’s weekend stop in Chamonix for the second victory of his career.

Fisher, who was 12th in both previous downhill races held this weekend in Chamonix, finished 18th in the opening run and held onto 23rd after the slalom. Bode Miller, of Franconia, N.H., was among 13 racers who went out in the downhill. Park City, Utah’s Ted Ligety chose to forego Sunday’s race in favor of more training in giant slalom.

A day after Canada’s historic 1-3-5 finish in the second Chamonix downhill, no Canadians entered Sunday’s Super G.

Coatian Ivica Kostelic was seventh in Sunday’s race, but continued to lead both the World Cup overall and super combined standings. The final super combined of the season will be held this Sunday in Sochi, Russia, site of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games following a downhill on Saturday.
