East Burke, VT – A 70-year-old Burke Mountain local hit a tree and died in an accident at the northeastern Vermont resort on Thursday.

Richard Snow, of West Burke, suffered face and chest injuries as well as internal trauma when he struck the tree alongside one of Burke Mountain’s trails. He was pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire after being transferred from Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury.

Snow was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
