Lakewood, CO – The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) last week honored 13 member resorts with its annual National Ski Area Safety Awards. Each season the awards recognize those resorts that have done an outstanding job of educating employees and guests about skiing and snowboarding responsibly.
The 2011-12 winners are:

Best Use of New /Social Media: Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif.
- Best Safety Week Program: Loon Mountain, N.H.
- Best Helmet Safety Program: Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, Nev.
- Best Terrain Park Safety Program: Killington Resort, Vt.
- Best Employee Involvement: Whitetail Resort, Penn.
- Best Employee Education: Aspen Skiing Co., Colo.
- Best Chairlift Safety Program: Telluride Ski & Golf Resort, Colo.
- Best Community Outreach: Sun Valley Resort, Idaho
- Best Avalanche Safety Program: Vail Mountain, Colo.
- Most Creative Safety Initiative: Copper Mountain, Colo.
- Best Overall Safety Program (Up to 250,000 visits): Mt. Shasta Ski Park, Calif.
- Best Overall Safety Program (250,000 or more visits): Beaver Creek Resort, Colo.
- Best Safety Website: Canyons Resort, Utah
