Quebec’s Mont-Sainte-Anne Throws In the Towel

Beaupré (QC), Canada –Following unseasonably warm days and rain forecast to continue on the mountain through Saturday night, Quebec’s Mont Sainte-Anne ski resort has ended its 2011-12 winter season and won’t reopen for the weekend as originally planned.

The snow conditions on the north side of the mountain deteriorated rapidly earlier this week as temperatures reached almost 30 degrees Celsius (86ºF). The resort’s management team visited this sector of the resort on Wednesday afternoon and made the decision to end the mountain operations for the season out of safety concerns for customers.

Ironically, the weather forecast also includes the possibility of a snowstorm moving into the region Saturday night into Sunday.

Mont-Sainte-Anne is the last resort to close in the area of Quebec City and once again offered one of the longest ski and snowboard seasons in the province. The resort’s Grand Vallon golf course will officially open on May 11.
