Snowbird, UT – Utah skiers and snowboarders found out on Tuesday that less than two weeks remain in the 2011-12 season.

Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, home to Utah’s longest ski season, announced on Tuesday that their winter will end on Sunday, May 13. Last year, Snowbird kept their lifts spinning through July 4.

Although 2011-12 winter snowfall was down markedly from the resort’s 500-inch annual average, Snowbird did in fact tally 383 inches thus far this season, including four new inches of snow on Tuesday. Mid-mountain base depths now stand at 82 inches. The resort opened for the season on November 18, 2011, meaning that the resort will have logged 177 days of operation this winter by the time closing day arrives.

Snowbird will keep its Aerial Tram and Little Cloud and Mineral Basin Express chairlifts running daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through May 13. Adult All-Day Tram & Chairs lift ticket prices have been reduced to $66. For the next two weekends, live bands will play from 2 to 5 p.m. for après ski on the Plaza Deck, weather permitting.

Following May 13, Snowbird staffers will begin their annual maintenance on the Aerial Tram. The resort will open for summer operations on June 8.
