B4BC to Hold Fundraising Events in Tahoe, SoCal

Tahoe City, CA – B4BC (Boarding for Breast Cancer) will be hosting its Eighth Annual Skate the Lake Presented by Tahoe Longboards on Aug. 18 and Sixth Annual Skate the Coast presented by Sun Bum on Sept. 29.  For 2012, B4BC will be dedicating funds raised by the dual events for the B4BC Survivorship Fund, which connects breast cancer survivors with health and wellness experiences in order to enhance their path of healing and long-term survivorship.

Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will be granted to local non-profits in Lake Tahoe and L.A. County that support the Survivorship Fund’s mission.

Since its inception, both Skate the Lake and Skate the Coast have attracted more than 1,000 participants who have raised over $75,000 in support of advocating an active lifestyle and raising awareness and funds for B4BC’s educational programs.

“Events like Skate the Lake and Skate the Coast are at the very heart of B4BC. Communities come together to have fun and honor loved ones, with a lot of love and laughter.  It’s all a part of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, against the beautiful backdrops of Lake Tahoe and the Pacific,” said Erika Seward, executive director, B4BC. “This year, we are thrilled to be able to support local breast cancer survivors with our Survivorship Fund.”
