The FIS Snowboard World Cup Big Air competition, scheduled in London for October 27th, “has been cancelled due to economical reasons,” the International Ski Federation (FIS) indicated in a statement released today.

The competition has been held in recent years in conjunction with the London Freeze festival adjacent to the massive Battersea Power Station. There has been no indication that the London Freeze has been canceled as well.

Event organizers, in cooperation with the British Ski and Snowboarding Federation, have already indicated that it is their goal to restore the competition as an FIS World Cup again, beginning with the 2013-14 winter season.
