Teton Village, WY – Skiers jonesing to drop into Corbet’s Couloir now have fresh ammunition to convince less-hardy friends and family that Jackson Hole doesn’t have to be extreme. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) has revamped its intermediate ski experience for winter 2012-13 with a new lift to expanded blue terrain.

While Jackson has always been known for its top-notch expert runs, this year JHMR is introducing the new Casper Quad along with an entirely fresh intermediate experience.  The resort installed the high-speed, four-passenger lift at mid-mountain to service an upgraded and expanded trail network of classic blue terrain, providing a boost to this formerly underutilized part of the mountain.

The new 1,050 vertical-foot Casper Quad replaces a fixed grip triple chair, reducing the ride time from 10 to 3.5 minutes while nearly doubling the lift’s uphill capacity.

The new Casper area is part of a series of capital improvements implemented over the past three years by JHMR officials to reach out to the intermediate destination skier and rider, including an upgraded and larger snowcat fleet and expanded snowmaking acreage and capacity. Hand-in-hand with the new lift, the resort’s Casper Restaurant, already a popular spot for visiting families and groups has introduced an entirely new menu including gourmet hot sandwiches, made to order tacos and a Margarita bar.

It’s also easier to get to Jackson this winter, thanks to an expanded winter flight schedule at Jackson Hole Airport for the 2012-13 ski season that includes new weekend and holiday nonstop flights. Nonstop air service is offered by United, American, and Delta to nine cities: Newark, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Dallas Fort Worth, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago and Los Angeles.
