Twin Bridges, CA – The Mayan calendar moves in cycles with the last cycle ending on Dec. 21, 2012; many Mayans and others have interpreted this date as the “end of the world.” However, if that doesn’t happen, Sierra Resort is ready to celebrate by offering $22 lift tickets online through Liftopia for this Saturday, along with the Last Tap beer tasting, live music, food and beverage specials, and Mayan hot chocolate, plus holiday festivities to follow.
On Friday local micro-brews will go head-to-head and put their best brew forward to snag the last vacant tap at the Sierra Resort Pub. If the Mayans were wrong, the winning brew will be featured on tap throughout January for all to enjoy. The Last Tap Brew Off is free for those 21 and over who have purchased a Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort lift ticket or season pass valid that day. DJ Mo Funk will provide live music for the event.
Sierra Resort will offer the “Mayans Missed It” $22 lift ticket for this Saturday. While the world was supposed to end on December 21 according to the Mayan calendar, Sierra Resort wants to celebrate by offering guests the chance to slide on snow and celebrate staying alive. The lift ticket is available through Liftopia and can only be purchased online through this Friday.
Also on Saturday, Sierra Resort will offer live music by the horn quintet, Bear Bones, at the base of the mountain and Mayan hot chocolate. Along with the “Mayans Missed It” celebration, holiday festivities will begin and continue throughout the weekend, including snowman building contests, candy cane limbo, iceberg bean bag toss, and a “Frosty” doughnut eating contest.
