Snowboarding Employee Dies at Big White

Kelowna (BC), Canada – The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died as a result of a snowboarding accident at Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna on Tuesday.

The man is Nickolas Voyer-Taylor, aged 22, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Voyer-Taylor, a seasonal employee and resident of the resort, had been snowboarding when he was found by other skiers partially submerged in water in a snow well. The resort reported 3cm of new snow overnight and 11cm in the 24 hours prior to Tuesday morning.

The victim was recovered by Ski Patrol and transported to Kelowna General Hospital, where he died after resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

The B.C. Coroners Service continues to investigate this death following notification of Voyer-Taylor’s family.
