Skier Dies in Wisconsin

Merrimac, WI – A 30-year-old Madison, Wisc. man has died of injuries sustained from colliding with a tree at Devil’s Head Resort in Merrimac.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office reports that Jonathan S. Hedberg was skiing at Devil’s Head just before 5 p.m. on Saturday when he lost control and struck a tree. He was transported via Sauk Prairie Ambulance to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, where he was pronounced dead.

It’s not immediately known if Hedberg was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Hedberg played professional and minor league hockey in Germany and the United States. He retired in 2009 and later moved to Madison with his wife, where he became a partner in Hedberg Search, an executive recruiting firm he shared with his father.
