Bolton, VT – For those who are desperate to get back on snow again this season, Vermont’s Bolton Valley ski and snowboard resort will again offer up a bit of “snow” over the Labor Day Weekend at the Labor of Love Rail Jam, to be held on Friday evening, Aug. 30. The window of opportunity is small — only one hour is available to satisfy ski and snowboard desires until Bolton Valley officially opens in December — but officials expect that one hour to be a family fun-filled time.

“To some it may feel like a tease to only be on snow for an hour and then have to wait another three plus months for the real deal,” said Josh Arneson, sales and marketing director at Bolton Valley Resort. “But we expect it to be a fun time for kids and families, and it’s a perfect complement for the largest ski and snowboard sale in Vermont, which is being held from Thursday through Monday and the following weekend. We hope people will come out and celebrate a bit of pre-season fun with us and get psyched for what’s to come.”

Terrain park makers will collect Zamboni shavings from a local ice rink and then cover the tennis courts next to the resort’s Sports Center. Skiers and riders will kick out the summer cobwebs on rails during the hour-long jam session. Prizes will be awarded to the best skiers and riders at the end of the jam along with a few extra prizes being tossed out to all competitors. Registration and bib pick up begins at 5 p.m. and space is limited so participants are encouraged to pre-register online. The jam session begins at 6 p.m. with awards at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. Online registration takes place at www.boltonvalley.com.

Vermont’s Largest Ski and Snowboard Sale will be held in the Sports Center at Bolton Valley as well, from Aug. 29 – Sept. 2 and Sept. 6-8. Produced in conjunction with Sport Thoma, a New England company with years of experience producing large scale ski and snowboard sale events, the Bolton Valley Sale will include more than $1 million in ski and snowboard inventory, all at huge savings.  Top manufacturer products will be sold, often below wholesale.  This sale will include gear, clothing, and accessories for the whole family.  A large selection of used children’s ski gear will be available to help get the little ones started. New for 2013 will be a special emphasis on deals on ski race gear.  Expert boot fitting and binding technicians will be on site for the sale.

To round out the weekend, the Bolton Valley 5K, a race on Bolton’s nordic trails to benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, the state’s largest nonprofit organization that offers year-round, daily sports and recreational programming to people with disabilities, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31. The cost is $25 per person regardless of age category and racers will receive an event t-shirt. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Vermont Adaptive, the state’s largest volunteer-based nonprofit that provides sports and recreation to people of all disabilities, which has one of its winter homes right at Bolton Valley. The overall winner (male and female) will receive awards. All top finishers will receive awards in each age category: Teens (13-18), Young Adults (19-35), Mid-Lifer (36-49) and Seniors (50+). The race begins at 10 a.m. rain or shine. Race day check in is required before 9 a.m. Runners should pre-register through Active.com on or before August 30. Race day registration is from 8-9 a.m. at the Bolton Valley Sports Center. Register by August 19th to guarantee yourself a Bolton Valley 5K race t-shirt. A raffle and the Awards Ceremony will occur immediately post race.

Skiers and riders can purchase and pick up their Bolton Valley All Access Season Pass at the ski and snowboard sale as well. Passes are priced at $569 for adults and $159 for youth when purchased with an adult parent’s pass, but the rate will increase after Sept. 23 . Bolton Valley pass holders will get an additional 5% off items purchased at the sale.

Ski and snowboard sale hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and Monday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The following weekend the hours are Friday, Sept. 6 from noon – 8 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The sale will be held at the Sports Center located at the opposite end of the parking lot from the main base area of the resort.
