Big Sky, MT – The first substantial cold front of the season swept across southwestern Montana and northwestern Wyoming overnight, leaving in its wake thunderstorms that dropped early snowfall draping many of the region’s ski resorts.
Snow levels dipped as low as Big Sky’s base village at 7,510 feet. The Montana Department of Transportation has closed the Beartooth Highway leading from Red Lodge into Yellowstone National Park along with the area’s Vista Point due to snow and ice on the roadway.
