Avon, CO – Sales of Liberty Skis’ Variant113 CAIC Limited Edition model for 2014 will benefit the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC). For every pair purchased, Liberty will donate $100 to CAIC to help continue their valuable educational and forecasting work across the state.

The CAIC Variant features unique graphics, and a fast, high carbon Electra 4000 base that will be hand tuned by Olympian and former U.S. Ski Team Member Sacha Gros. All skis will be signed and hand numbered.  Only 100 pairs will be produced.

Available only in a single length (186 cm), the skis sport a sidecut of 145-113-132 for a big 26.0-meter turning radius, and tip the scales at 2,350 g (5.18 lb.) per pair.

“We expect this ski to raise approximately $10,000 for the center, a nice chunk of change for those guys and which should help them cover forecasting and education costs this next winter,” says Tom Winter, vice president of marketing for Liberty Skis.

Founded in 1973 as the nation’s oldest public avalanche forecast program, the CAIC is a cash-funded program of the Colorado Geological Survey under the directorship of the State Geologist Vince Matthews. Funding comes from donations, contributions, and the state’s Severance Tax fund. The main office is in Boulder, co-located with the National Weather Service, and field offices are established in Breckenridge, Aspen, and the Northern San Juan Mountains.
