Elan Brings Skiing to the Mediterranean Coast

Portoroz, Slovenia – A port city along the Mediterranean coastline seems an unlikely place to ski.

But that’s what kids will be doing in Portoroz, as Elan Skis will host the “White Circus on the Snow” this Monday. A ski hill will be erected on the large steps in the center of Hotel Bernardin right next to the water. Children up to 9 years old from across Slovenia will race with ski legends for fun. The event will be formally opened by Peter Bossman, the Mayor of Piran.

The event has been organized by Elan for the newest generations of skiers, trying to engage them in the sport and create a positive attitude towards a healthy life. The International Ski Federation (FIS) will directly support the event through its program, Snowkidz.

Elan’s international ambassadors will be in attendance, including extreme skier Glen Plake, former professional skiers Urska Hrovat and Christian Mayer, Davo Karnicar, Bojan Križaj, Filip Flisar, Mitja Valencic, and Peter Prevc. The event is being held in conjunction with Elan’s 2014-15 sales conference.

“Children are our future!” pronounces Elan Brand and Product Director Luka Grilc. “We want them to be healthy and active in sports, which is not really the trend in today’s society. We chose the time and location of this event to create attention and make unforgettable experience for kids on snow. We want to bring skiing closer to kids and for this we created also new revolutionary innovation – U-Flex technology – that will make skiing easier and more fun for children.”
