Saint-Sauveur (QC), Canada – Canada’s ski and snowboard season got underway when Mont-Saint-Sauveur opened for business on Wednesday.

The resort in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal opened its 70 West trail for top-to-bottom skiing and riding, with one lift in service, the first to open to the public in Canada thus far this season.

Operations continue at Mont-Saint-Sauveur today, with lift ticket prices reduced to C$5 for anyone skiing or snowboarding in a Halloween costume.

Alberta’s Mt. Norquay in Banff will carry the flag for western Canada when it kicks off its season tomorrow, with skiing and riding taking place on weekends only through November 29. Operations will be limited to Norquay’s Cascade Chair, rental shop and cafeteria. Nearby Nakiska in the Kananaskis Valley will follow on Saturday, giving Calgarians two open options this weekend.
