Boreal’s Nugget chairlift will begin spinning at noon, servicing one run with four terrain park features. No beginner terrain will be available. The Boreal Lodge will be open for tickets, rentals, guest service, retail and restrooms, while the resort’s Snowsports School will remain closed.

Lift tickets will cost $20 for all ages and all 2013-14 Boreal season passes are valid. Pass holders who have not yet picked up their passes may do so at the Boreal Base Lodge starting at 10 a.m.

Boreal’s opening, the first in California this season, follows a storm earlier this week that dropped up to 16 inches of natural snowfall. The new snowfall has been supplemented by the resort’s snowmaking efforts, although temperatures at the resort rose into the 50s today. Crews will re-evaluate the conditions Friday afternoon and determine the operating schedule for the following days.
