Mackenzie (BC), Canada – A 27-year-old Alberta woman died on Friday when she suffocated in deep powder outside the boundaries of Powder King Mountain Resort near Mackenzie.
Maxine Peters, of Grande Prairie, was snowboarding in an out of bounds area of Powder King when she lost control going over a small jump “and fell into very deep powdered snow,” according to the B.C. Coroner’s Office.
The Coroners Service and the Mackenzie detachment of the RCMP continue to investigate the death. Family members have been notified.
Powder King is located in the center of the Pine Pass in Northern British Columbia.
