Aspen’s Limelight Hotel Completes Makeover

Aspen, CO – As Aspen Mountain opens ahead of schedule today, one famous downtown hotel is completing its renovation right on schedule.

The Limelight Hotel’s $1.1 million complete guest room upgrade is targeted for completion this Monday. All 126 guest rooms will be outfitted with new carpets, drapery, and furniture that will feature warm colors and textures combined with patterns inspired by nature. Lounge-style seating with sumptuous chairs and work-height coffee tables will offer a place to unwind, dine casually, or pull out the laptop and share the day’s photos with friends.

“I could not be more excited for this season to start, as the guest room renovation will give a new and more contemporary feel to our hotel,” states Richard Stettner, Managing Director of the Limelight Hotel.

This winter the hotel is also featuring three new adventure offerings that include a powder cat ski/ride day, grooming snowcat rides and last tracks with Aspen Ski Patrol. All three are available to guests of The Limelight Hotel, The Little Nell and the Residences at The Little Nell in Aspen.

Aspen Mountain Powder Tours and The Limelight Hotel are teaming up to provide guests with a guided cat skiing/riding tour. Taking place Fridays from Dec. 19, 2014-Apr. 3, 2015, the cat ski/ride will include an average of 10 to 15 untracked powder runs on the backside of Aspen Mountain followed by an intimate late lunch at the Powder Tours cabin. The gourmet lunch will not only include delectable dishes, but will also be paired with wines from around the world specifically bottled for element 47, the restaurant located in The Little Nell, another venerable Aspen hotel. The Limelight Hotel Powder Tours experience costs $465 per person or $400 if a group wishes to buy out the entire cat (10 seats). This snow cat offer is  for skier or riders who are strong intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders.

Find out how the slopes of Aspen Mountain are perfected each evening by riding shotgun in a groomer. An Aspen Snowmass snow cat operator will take two guests at a time on a behind-the-scenes ride in a Prinoth Bison 350 snowcat. Guests will ride in style next to the driver as they learn how cat drivers groom the slopes as well as get a glimpse into the daily operation of running a ski resort, all while enjoying the sunset and views of downtown Aspen. The cost is $100 for two people. The Limelight Hotel snowcat tours will leave at 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Nov. 27, 2014 – Apr. 19, 2015.

Guests staying at The Limelight Hotel are also invited to participate in the unique offering of sweeping Aspen Mountain with Ski Patrol. This program offers an experience where guests have the mountain to themselves for one run, granting a behind-the-scenes tour of how patrol ensures skiers and snowboarders are safely off the mountain each day. This offer is free to those who sign up.
