Hancock, MA – Want to try skiing or snowboarding, but not sure if you want to go all in? Bromley Mountain in southern Vermont, Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway, N.H., and Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in the Berkshires of Massachusetts are each offering free lift tickets and introductory Terrain- Based Learning (TBL) instruction on January 19 and March 15, 2015.
The mountains, all managed by the Fairbank Group based at Jiminy Peak, are encouraging beginners to learn to ski and snowboard on beginner-level features carved into the snow. Skiers and riders will progress through the learning playground’s mellow rollers, camel humps, mini-halfpipes, banks, berms, and spines, all adding fun and excitement to a relatively flat beginner area.
As part of Bromley’s Start Fun, Start Free promotion, skiers or riders will receive a Learning Zone lift ticket, rental equipment for the day, and access to instruction in the Learning Zone from 10:30 a.m. until noon – all at no charge. Cranmore’s Free TBL Day is for first-time skiers and riders ages eight and above and includes complimentary rental equipment, a lower mountain lift ticket, and a 90-minute introductory lesson. Advanced reservations are required and availability is limited to the first 50 guests. Lesson times are 9 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each participant will receive a gift bag. Jiminy’s Start Fun, Start Free Terrain Based Learning program for Jan. 19 and Mar. 15 features rental ski or snowboard equipment for the day, access to instruction, and a mountain lift ticket valid for the easier Magic Carpet, Cricket and Novice chairs. New for the TBL slope this season is a Pump Track with gentle rollers with banked turns to help beginners gain confidence going downhill. Reservations are limited to the first 75 beginners.
